A one-button break from upgrade grinding
Earn to Die is about saving cash between runs and bolting better parts onto a car. Flappy Bird, the arcade game originally made by Dong Nguyen, has none of that. There is no shop, no garage and nothing to unlock: one small bird, an endless line of green pipes, and a single action. Every run starts from zero, so the only thing that improves is your own timing.
How to play
- Flap: press Space, the Up arrow or W, or click / tap the game screen.
- Pause: press P or Esc during a run, and the same key again to carry on.
- Each flap lifts the bird a little; between flaps gravity pulls it down.
- Fly through the gap in each pair of pipes to score a point. Touching a pipe or the ground ends the run.
Why it feels so hard
The bird never stops moving forward and you cannot steer it left or right, so all of your control is vertical. A flap is a fixed kick upward, which means holding a steady height is a matter of rhythm, not of reacting to each pipe at the last moment. Most early crashes come from flapping too often: the bird climbs into the top pipe, you stop, and it drops through the gap and into the bottom one.
Tips that actually help
- Aim for the lower half of each gap. It is easier to flap up into a gap than to fall into one in time.
- Tap in a steady beat instead of in bursts. A calm, even rhythm keeps the bird level.
- Watch the next gap, not the bird. Once you know where it is, start lining up early.
- Pause with P when you need a breather instead of letting a long run end on a lapse of focus.
Who it suits
If you like Earn to Die for the feeling of a run going a little further each time, Flappy Bird gives you that same pull in its purest form, just without the money. Runs last seconds, so it fits the gap between two longer sessions of driving through zombies. It works with a keyboard, a mouse or a touch screen.
Questions about Flappy Bird
Is Flappy Bird unblocked at school?
Flappy Bird runs in an ordinary browser tab from earntodie.org, with nothing to download or install, so it plays on most school Chromebooks and work computers. If a network filter blocks the site, only that network's administrator can change it.
What are the controls in Flappy Bird?
Press Space, the Up arrow or W, or click or tap the screen, to flap. Press P or Esc to pause and resume.
How do you score points?
You get one point for every pair of pipes the bird flies through. Hitting a pipe or the ground ends the run.
Are there upgrades like in Earn to Die?
No. Flappy Bird has no shop or unlocks; every run starts the same, so only your timing improves.
